BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A quartet of Broncos, taking part in 5 different events, are in Oregon for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

It's their first trip to Nationals for many, and for some, the first time they'll hit the track at historic Hayward Field. Among track and field athletes, Eugene feels a lot like home, because when it comes to knowledge and love of the sport there's no place better for track and field.

"It's a really smart crowd. They know what's good, what's not and so they'll get into it, yeah," said BSU interim head coach Jeff Petersmeyer.

"Probably the best track I've ever ran on. The crowd is, everybody there loves track, like you said, it's a great experience, I think, to run at," added BSU sprinter Daveon Collins.

"It's amazing. Just the atmosphere is so empowering. The people just love running, just love racing. And I'm just really excited to get out there and feel that vibe," said BSU distance runner Emma Bates.

"My parents and both of my brothers are going to be there, and I'm really just excited to see them and have them ... I mean they were here when I had my big throw here, my 214, so hopefully they'll bring me good luck again," said BSU thrower Matt Post.

Emma Bates starts the Championships off for the Broncos with the Women's 10,000 meters Wednesday night. The other three Broncos follow up on Thursday.
